Why It Matters

First St. Regis in Latin America, in a Cesar Pelli-designed skyscraper on Paseo de la Reforma. Holds a Michelin Key and has won Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Forbes, AAA Five Diamond, and World Travel Awards recognition. The butler-to-guest ratio is exceptional, and the King Cole Bar has been named a Regional Top 10 by Tales of the Cocktail Foundation.

The St. Regis Mexico City rises 31 stories inside Torre Libertad — a shimmering glass tower designed by Argentinian architect Cesar Pelli (the same man behind the Petronas Towers) directly on Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City's grand boulevard. The hotel occupies a prime stretch of that avenue with the Diana the Huntress fountain directly below — there are rooms where that's literally the first thing you see in the morning. It's one of the loudest statements of luxury in the city, and it knows it. With 189 rooms, 35 suites, a butler-to-guest ratio that rivals some intimate boutiques, nine dining and drinking outlets, and a 10,000 sq ft Remède Spa on the 15th floor, this is as full-service as urban hotels get. Built to withstand an 8.5 Richter earthquake — it proved its mettle during quakes in 2007 and 2009 — Torre Libertad was the first St. Regis in all of Latin America when it opened in June 2008.
