Book a Cazadero room for the outdoor cedar hot tub experience under the open sky — it's the sweet spot between Belden's historic charm and Armstrong's modernity

Why It Matters

One of the very few independently-owned, owner-operated properties in Wine Country to hold both Michelin Two Keys and AAA Four Diamonds. The Belden House is a registered Sonoma County Landmark (Number 129). Dinner is strictly for hotel guests only — six tables, four courses, prix-fixe — which keeps the experience genuinely private.

The Stavrand is a 21-room boutique hotel on a six-acre hillside estate in Guerneville, originally built in 1922 as the home of Guerneville banker Ralph 'Rooster' Belden and converted into a B&B in the 1980s. A full gut renovation in 2021 by new owners Emily Glick and Santiago Appleton Ripley brought it back to life with sharp interiors by EDG Design (the same firm behind Montage Healdsburg) while keeping the historic bones intact. The result earned a Michelin Two-Key rating, AAA Four Diamond, and a spot on Travel + Leisure's It List — serious hardware for a 21-room property in a small redwood river town.

Armstrong House King
Superior King

Armstrong House King

The newest and most modern building on property, Armstrong has two rooms and is the most spacious option. Cathedral ceilings, renovated hardwood floors, and deep Saltillo tile shower/soaking tub bathrooms with either a window or skylight for natural light throughout the day. Semi-private outdoor decks, gas fireplaces, and that same big-sky view of the surrounding redwoods. If you want elbow room, this is your building.

Belden House King
Standard King

Belden House King

Rooms inside the 1922 Mission Revival landmark, the Belden House. Each one is different — think intricate wallpaper, inherited antiques mixed with custom designer furniture, and a distinct European B&B intimacy. The public spaces downstairs include two original 1922 stone fireplaces, a lending library, and the sunroom that floods with afternoon light. Cozier than the other buildings, which is the whole point.

Cazadero House King
Deluxe King

Cazadero House King

The Cazadero building was redesigned from scratch in 2021 and offers the most distinctive outdoor experience on property. Eight rooms, each with direct access to nature, vaulted ceilings, window seats, and — the real draw — outdoor cedar hot tubs with open-sky views. Many also have freestanding soaking tubs inside and gas fireplaces. It's the building that feels most like a private cabin that also happens to come with breakfast.
