Sukhothai Bangkok
Low-rise garden estate with Thai heritage architecture. Calm, elegant, and unhurried — the antithesis of Bangkok's glass-tower luxury. Jim Thompson fabrics, teakwood floors, and hand-crafted details throughout. Draws a loyal crowd of diplomats, business travellers, and returning guests who know exactly what they want.
Book Celadon for dinner on a weekday — live traditional Thai performances run at 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM nightly.
Why It Matters
One of Bangkok's defining luxury hotels for 35 years. Designed by Ed Tuttle (Aman Hotels), awarded Michelin 2 Keys in both 2024 and 2025. Home to Celadon, one of the city's most awarded Thai restaurants. Part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and GHA Discovery. Spreads across six acres in the Sathorn financial district — genuinely remarkable real estate in this part of Bangkok.
The Sukhothai Bangkok is a low-rise, six-acre compound on Sathorn Road that has been a landmark of quiet luxury since 1991. Designed by Ed Tuttle — the architect behind many early Aman resorts — the hotel draws its aesthetic vocabulary from the ancient Sukhothai kingdom: replica chedis, lotus ponds, and pavilions that feel more like a heritage park than a city hotel. With 210 rooms, seven dining and bar venues, and a 7,000 sqm spa set in its own garden, it punches well above its footprint.
