The Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club
Mid-century surf culture meets modern boutique hotel. Think denim sofas, reed ceilings, pendant lights, and surfboards mounted in the open-air lobby. Deliberately retro, deliberately local.

Why It Matters
No amenity fees, dogs of any size stay free, and the pool — dubbed the Swim Club — doubles as a genuine community gathering spot with regular events, visiting artists, and nightly live music. It's one of the few Waikiki hotels that draws actual locals.
A 10-story, 112-room boutique hotel on Lewers Street in the heart of Waikiki, originally built in the early 1960s and completely reimagined in 2016 by Hoshino Resorts. It sits a short walk from the beach but just far enough from the main tourist strip to actually feel like a neighborhood. The whole place leans into a vintage mid-century surf vibe — handcrafted furniture, local artwork on every wall, custom-tile bathroom floors, and a pool with 'Wish You Were Here' spelled out in mosaic tiles at the bottom.
