The Surrey
Quiet luxury, residential-feel boutique, Art Deco heritage with contemporary sophistication. Understated, textural, and chic without being shouty. The crowd skews well-traveled and local.
The Lounge by Casa Tua is the real neighborhood scene — locals spill in for dirty martinis; you don't need a hotel reservation to enjoy it
Why It Matters
Corinthia's North American debut, housed in a century-old celebrity haunt (JFK, Bette Davis, Claudette Colbert) that was gut-renovated by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. It's also home to New York's first Casa Tua restaurant — the Italian members' club from Miami — open to the public. Named to Travel + Leisure's 'It List' 2025 and Condé Nast's Hot List 2025.
Built in 1926, this 16-story Art Deco tower on East 76th Street has been completely transformed and reopened in October 2024 as Corinthia Hotels' first North American property. One hundred rooms and suites designed by Martin Brudnizki strike a tone of quiet, residential luxury — think cream marble, hand-crafted Murano chandeliers, and grass cloth walls — rather than grand-hotel opulence. The building also holds 14 private residences, making the vibe feel genuinely lived-in. It's a hotel that rewards guests who want the Upper East Side on their terms: Central Park a block away, Museum Mile steps further, and one of the city's buzziest Italian restaurants right off the lobby.
