Charleston's first and only dedicated art hotel. The gallery rotates bi-yearly, an in-house docent leads art tours with wine included, and over 300 pieces hang throughout rooms and public spaces — all purchasable. The Vendue is Charleston's original art hotel — and it earns the title. Spread across two 18th-century warehouse buildings in the French Quarter, the property houses over 200 pieces of original contemporary art, all of it for sale, with a rotating gallery curated by Robert Lange Studios and an artist-in-residence whose studio sits right on the premises. The main building (19 Vendue) skews playful and social, while The Enclave across the street (26 Vendue) is quieter, more private, and loaded with exposed brick, hardwood floors, and fireplaces.

No windows — full stop. But if you want a dark, cave-like room for sleeping deeply, these 261–353 sq ft king rooms deliver. Cozy, private, and fully loaded with Enclave amenities including turndown service.

Compact windowless rooms at 204–266 sq ft. Queen bed, good furnishings, all Enclave amenities. The lack of windows keeps it dark and quiet — some guests love it, others hate it. Know before you book.
QueenEnclave King
Signature Enclave rooms at 276–365 sq ft. Tasteful furnishings, king bed, all standard amenities plus the full Enclave perk stack: espresso station, daily snacks, evening sherry, and nightly turndown.

KingVendue Premier Double Queen

How you'll actually spend your days.
Fred Jamar, a Belgian painter, maintains a working studio at The Enclave. Guests can drop by to watch him work and hear his story. His paintings are viewable and available for purchase via the hotel gallery.
Complimentary afternoon art reception for all guests in the gallery space. Wine is served while an art docent walks guests through the current exhibition. Functions as both a social event and an art education experience.
In-house art docents lead guided tours of the hotel's 200+ piece contemporary art collection. Wine is included. Rotating bi-yearly gallery exhibits curated by Robert Lange Studios. All art is for sale — docents can assist with purchases.
The hotel offers loaner bicycles (branded red Vendue bikes) to explore Charleston's historic streets. Rainbow Row, Waterfront Park, and the French Quarter are all easily reachable by bike from the front door.
Full concierge service to assist with restaurant reservations, local tours, transportation, and Charleston recommendations. Valet parking is also available.
A nightly complimentary milk and cookies service in the lobby for all guests. A small but genuinely appreciated touch that distinguishes the hotel from generic upscale properties.
