Why It Matters
Literally the only hotel in the world inside the Elbphilharmonie. After a concert, you walk back to your room through a revolving door on the 8th floor. The building itself — curved glass on a century-old warehouse — is Hamburg's defining post-2017 landmark. Winner of the German Design Award 2018, Falstaff Best of Germany 2024, and Green Key certified.
The Westin Hamburg lives inside the Elbphilharmonie — one of the world's most architecturally dramatic concert halls, designed by Herzog & de Meuron and perched on a 19th-century warehouse at the edge of the Elbe. The hotel occupies floors 8 through 28 in the eastern wing of the building, with 244 rooms and suites. Every room has floor-to-ceiling curved glass; the views range from open harbor to HafenCity to the atrium core of the concert hall itself. Design is calm and puristic — think natural materials, earth tones, sand, wood, water — with zero showiness inside despite the extraordinary address outside.

Classic Elbphilharmonie Room
The entry category — and the one to manage expectations on. Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto the conical interior atrium of the Elbphilharmonie, not the harbor or city. Genuinely striking architecture to look at, but if you came for Elbe views, this isn't it. Minimalist decor with the signature Heavenly Bed, Heavenly shower, flat-screen TV, and coffee/tea equipment.
Deluxe Room
Step up from Classic and you get an actual view of the modern HafenCity through floor-to-ceiling glass. Available in king or twin configurations. Spacious bathrooms with waterfall shower and separate bathtub in higher categories. Earth tones and natural materials throughout.
Family Suite
46 sqm suite configured for families. King bed in the main bedroom, sofa bed in the separate living area. Sleeps up to three adults or two adults and two small children. Partial Elbe views through floor-to-ceiling windows. Bathtub and shower both included.

Located on floors 12 to 18, the Horizon Suite delivers a 180-degree corner bedroom view — you see the sunrise over the city from one side and the harbor on the other. 92 sqm with a separate living area, walk-in rain shower, and separate bathtub. Maisonette Suite
The hotel's most distinctive room design: 92 sqm across two floors. Living and dining area below, serene bedroom above with an en-suite bathroom. Sofa on the lower floor converts to a bed, making it workable for three adults. Floor-to-ceiling windows on both levels — Elbe River and HafenCity views. Very quiet, very spacious, and genuinely feels different from a standard hotel room.

Named for its panoramic harbor or city outlook. Some units face the Elbe/harbor, one faces the city of Hamburg. Spacious living area with signature Heavenly Bed. Among the higher-floor options in the building.
Premium Waterfront Room
Harbor-facing rooms where you can watch cruise ships and container vessels pass on the Elbe River — including the Queen Mary 2 when she docks. On higher floors than the standard Deluxe. Walk-in rain shower plus bathtub in the bathroom.
Presidential Suite
The top of the house — 160 sqm on the 19th floor with the only private balcony in the hotel (accessible from the bathroom). Two bathrooms, a bedroom, two living areas, and a work/meeting area with a conference table for up to six. The balcony bathtub faces directly over the Elbe River and Hamburg Harbor. Also marketed for private board meetings and high-stakes negotiations.

Hotel guests can enter the Elbphilharmonie concert halls directly via the revolving door on the 8th floor lobby using their room key card. No need to re-queue at the main entrance. The Grand Hall seats 2,100 with vineyard-style seating and world-class acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota; the Recital Hall seats 550 for chamber music. The concierge team can assist with ticket purchases.
The publicly accessible plaza of the Elbphilharmonie sits at 37 meters with 360° views over the port and city. Accessible via the tube escalator from the ground floor. Free and open to all visitors — hotel guests have the unique perk of stepping out from inside.
