A 17th-century ivy-clad coaching inn sitting in the market town of Northleach, now part of the Young's Brewery group. Original beams, exposed brickwork, and stripped wooden floors do the heritage work while 14 individually designed boutique bedrooms do the luxury work — Hypnos beds, copper rolltop tubs in many, Bramley toiletries throughout. The restaurant is a genuine draw in its own right, with Head Chef Horatio running a daily-changing seasonal British menu that pulls from local farms and suppliers. No pool, no gym, no spa to speak of currently — but that's not what you come here for.

Bigger Boutique
The top tier. Emperor-sized beds, freestanding rolltop bathtubs, and separate rainfall showers as standard. Some have garden views. Select rooms accommodate cots or doggy beds. The honesty bar is well stocked. These are the rooms worth upgrading to — the copper tub in a room with garden views is a genuine highlight of staying here.
Boutique
Perfectly sized for two. Some come with freestanding rolltop tubs and separate rainfall showers, others have a standalone bathtub or shower only — worth specifying at booking. Several accommodate cots or fold-out beds for families, and some allow dogs. Steps up from Cosy with the addition of a stocked honesty bar.
Cosy
A step up in size from Snug. These rooms swap the rolltop tub for a rainfall shower, keeping things practical for guests who prefer a quick morning routine. Still gets the full treatment: Hypnos bed, Nespresso, Bramley toiletries, and snack basket. One TripAdvisor guest called it 'a fantastic room — cosy yes, but not wanting for anything with a huge comfortable bed and fabulous bathroom.'
Snug
The smallest room in the house, but it doesn't shortchange on character. Compact, cosy, and comes with a standout freestanding copper rolltop bathtub with handheld shower rather than a traditional shower. Good for a solo traveller or couple who don't mind a snug footprint but want that bathtub moment.
