Why It Matters
Listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. Consistently rated #1 inn in Northleach on TripAdvisor with 1,290+ reviews. Part of Young's Brewery portfolio. Reportedly hosted guests at Kate Moss's Cotswolds wedding. The Sunday roast is locally famous.
A 17th-century ivy-clad coaching inn sitting in the market town of Northleach, now part of the Young's Brewery group. Original beams, exposed brickwork, and stripped wooden floors do the heritage work while 14 individually designed boutique bedrooms do the luxury work — Hypnos beds, copper rolltop tubs in many, Bramley toiletries throughout. The restaurant is a genuine draw in its own right, with Head Chef Horatio running a daily-changing seasonal British menu that pulls from local farms and suppliers. No pool, no gym, no spa to speak of currently — but that's not what you come here for.

Northleach is excellent walking and cycling country. The inn team provides personal local recommendations. Nearby routes through the Cotswold hills and AONB are on the doorstep.
The inn can point guests toward Talland School of Equitation near Cirencester, Bourton Vale Equestrian Centre, and watersports at Cotswold Water Park on South Cerney Lakes.
Every third Monday evening in the Garden Room. A set menu by Head Chef Horatio — 2 courses for £25, 3 courses for £30. Bookings strongly recommended. Open to guests and non-guests alike.
Private dining room, snug/TV room, and the Garden Room are available for celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate meetings and bespoke banquets. The inn has hosted generations of local celebrations.
The inn can organise shooting and fishing outings for guests — both clay-pigeon and game shooting. Michelin Guide specifically calls these out as 'officially sanctioned.' Mr & Mrs Smith reviews recommend Ian Coley Shooting School near Cheltenham and private estates curated by the Wheatsheaf team.
