Zetter Bloomsbury
Residential collector's house — Georgian bones, maximalist layering, warm and unstuffy. Cocktail-forward social culture with a genuinely literary, intellectually curious atmosphere.
Ask for a garden-facing room — views of the private manicured garden are a genuine selling point and rare in central London
Why It Matters
The Zetter Group's third and most ambitious London property. Designer pedigree (James Thurstan Waterworth, ex-Soho House European Design Director). One of the very few hotels in London with the British Museum as a literal next-door neighbour. The group is known for some of London's best boutique cocktail culture.
The Zetter Bloomsbury opened in March 2026, occupying six interconnected Georgian townhouses directly opposite the British Museum. Designer James Thurstan Waterworth — who shaped Soho House's European aesthetic — has built something that feels less like a hotel and more like inheriting a collector's home: antiques, vintage lighting, richly layered textiles, reclaimed floorboards, and gathered objects from near and far. Sixty-eight rooms, no two alike, ranging from intimate wood-panelled Cosy rooms to a Terrace Suite with a four-poster bed and claw-foot bath. The social pull is real. The Parlour runs from morning coffee through late-night cocktails, and The Orangery — flooded with natural light and opening onto a private walled garden — is the kind of breakfast and afternoon tea spot people make detours for.
