Why It Matters
One of London's most character-driven small hotels. The fictional backstory (Great Aunt Wilhelmina), award-winning cocktail parlour, strong sustainability credentials (borehole water, energy loop heating), and just 13 individually designed rooms make it genuinely hard to replicate.
A 13-room Georgian townhouse on cobbled St John's Square that looks like it belongs to an eccentric, well-travelled great aunt — because, fictionally, it does. The whole place is styled around the invented persona of 'Great Aunt Wilhelmina', whose portrait hangs behind the bar and whose taste for antiques, taxidermy, circus-carousel headboards, and Union Flag four-posters runs through every room. Interior designer Russell Sage brought it all together in a way that feels less like a boutique hotel and more like stumbling into a private home mid-party. The Parlour cocktail bar is a genuine destination in its own right.

The in-house bar team develops bespoke cocktail recipes using ingredients like St John's Wort, nettle cordial, vetiver, and curried rum. Mini-bar in rooms is stocked with cocktails in miniature bottles including house signatures.
The entire 13-bedroom townhouse can be exclusively hired from 3pm arrival to 11am departure. Capacity up to 120 standing for evening events. Ideal for wedding receptions, corporate retreats, or large private celebrations.
Live music in The Parlour every Tuesday and Wednesday evening. No cover charge for hotel guests or walk-ins — just book a table.
The ground-floor Dining Room seats up to 14 around a vintage table for private dinners, set menus, or meetings. Doors open to The Parlour for cocktail receptions of up to 20.
