Hotel Thomahof is a four-star, family-run wellness hotel on the edge of Hinterzarten in the protected Zartenbach valley of the Black Forest. The Thoma family runs the place personally, and that shows — from the pillow menu in every room to the afternoon cake service included in every stay. The spa has grown significantly in recent years with a new bathhouse adding an indoor and outdoor pool, and now clocks in at over 1,000 m². Feldberg — the largest ski area north of the Alps — is 20 minutes by car. 31 lifts and 55 km of piste in all difficulty grades. Snowsure due to elevation. A beginner/family ski lift also operates within Hinterzarten itself.
330 km of groomed cross-country trails start right outside the hotel. The Hinterzarten plateau is one of Germany's premier Nordic skiing destinations. Trails range from gentle meadow loops to longer routes through the Hochschwarzwald.
