Opened in 2021 after a four-year build by Audley Travel founder Craig Burkinshaw, who bought a field above the Gwithian dunes specifically because it has some of the UK's best kitesurfing. The result is a genuinely novel format: self-catering privacy with hotel extras you can dial up or ignore. Three Mile Beach is 19 colourful clapboard beach houses set in the sand dunes of Gwithian Towans on St Ives Bay. Think self-catering freedom with a layer of hotel service on top: there's a concierge team, on-site bar and restaurant, treatment room, and surf school literally at the door. Every house gets its own sunken cedar hot tub, barrel sauna, and private decked terrace.

The compact option — 55 sqm inside, 50 sqm of private deck outside. Two bedrooms sleeping up to 4, with the second room configurable as a single or super king. Open-plan kitchen and living area, walk-in shower, and the same outdoor deck setup: sunken cedar hot tub, barrel sauna, and gas BBQ. One parking space. Good pick for couples or a couple with one child who want the full TMB experience without paying for rooms they won't use.

The biggest option on site. Four bedrooms sleeping up to 8 adults plus 2 on mezzanine futon beds. Bathrooms include an en-suite to the master with a freestanding bath tub, a main bathroom, and a hallway WC. Outside: 6ft sunken cedar hot tub, barrel sauna, gas BBQ, hammock, loungers, and surf rack. Three car parking spaces and EV point.

Gwithian Towans is one of the UK's premier kitesurfing spots — the west-facing beach catches reliable Atlantic swell and a dependable prevailing westerly wind. The whole resort was founded because of this.

Global Boarders surf school operates directly on Gwithian Towans beach, a five-minute walk from the houses. Lessons for all levels. New from 2024: every lesson includes an extra free hour of board hire afterwards.
