Palazzo Gaddi
Renaissance palace grandeur meets considered contemporary luxury. Frescoed ceilings in the ballrooms, antique furniture in the rooms, and a hot-air-balloon-shaped rooftop bar. Formal without being stuffy, historic without feeling like a museum.
Rooms 503 (Superior) and 505 (Deluxe with terrace) are highly praised by repeat guests for their Duomo views — worth requesting specifically
Why It Matters
Genuinely occupies two restored 16th-century aristocratic palaces with original frescoes and art objects. The dining program is led by Michelin-starred Chef Iside de Cesare (of La Parolina fame). The Aria Rooftop delivers arguably the most dramatic Duomo views of any hotel bar in the city. And the Milton Bar is named after the poet John Milton, who reportedly found inspiration here for Paradise Lost during his 1638 stay.
Two 16th-century Florentine palaces — once belonging to the noble Gaddi and Arrighetti families — have been painstakingly restored and merged into this 5-star hotel in the heart of the Centro Storico. The frescoed salons, original artworks, and period furnishings are all still here; interior designers Patrizia Quartero and Guy Oliver just added marble bathrooms and decent Wi-Fi. The star of the show is the rooftop bar with a direct sightline to the Duomo — one of the best views in Florence, full stop.
