Why It Matters

Occupies a genuinely significant historic building — the restored Soeurs Garde-Malades Apartment, an outbuilding of the Palais de France — in the most diplomatically prestigious pocket of Beyoğlu. Nicole Restaurant alone is worth the trip, with some of the most dramatic rooftop views in Istanbul and a serious tasting menu. Breakfast up there is equally special.
A 1901 building that once housed Franciscan nuns, Tomtom Suites is now an 18-suite boutique hotel in one of Istanbul's most diplomatically charged neighborhoods. The street itself is blocked to cars — the Italian Consulate sits directly across, and the French Palace and Dutch and Russian Consulates are all within a short walk. Suites run 35–68 sqm, uniformly kitted with Carrera marble bathrooms (jacuzzi, underfloor heating), custom-made furniture, solid wood floors, and high ceilings preserved from the original restoration. The rooftop Nicole Restaurant is the real calling card: panoramic views over the Historical Peninsula, Bosphorus, and Princes' Islands, paired with a thoughtfully constructed contemporary Turkish tasting menu.

The entry-level category, but don't let that fool you — 35 sqm is solid for Istanbul. Cozy rather than grand, but well-executed.

Be aware: this category has no windows in the bedroom or bathroom — the seating area has a partial courtyard view. The hotel is upfront about this. At 44 sqm it's spacious and the Carrera marble bathroom with jacuzzi and rain-shower is the same standard across the property. Good for a peaceful, light-insulated sleep if you're light-sensitive, but go in with eyes open.
