Treehotel
Architecture-forward, nature-immersive, intentionally low-amenity. This is not a pampering resort. It's a place where the room itself is the experience — and the forest is the everything else.
Book restaurant meals at least 14 days in advance — they are mandatory pre-bookings and cancellations are charged in full.
Why It Matters
One of the world's most architecturally significant small hotels. The Mirrorcube — a mirror-clad cube that disappears into the trees — went viral before 'going viral' was a thing, landing on the cover of Architectural Record. The Biosphere (2022, by Bjarke Ingels Group) adds nesting boxes for actual birds and bats into its ecological cocoon. The newest room, Oasis (2026), comes with its own private sauna and hot tub. No room duplicates another architect, another concept, or another material.
Nine architect-designed treehouses suspended 4–10 metres above a pine forest in Swedish Lapland, just south of the Arctic Circle. Each room was commissioned from a different award-winning architect — BIG, Snøhetta, Tham & Videgård among them — so no two nights here feel remotely alike. Services are deliberately minimal: a sauna, a riverside hot tub, and a restaurant focused on microseasonality. That's mostly the point.
