Turtle Bay Resort
Relaxed North Shore surf culture meets Ritz-Carlton polish. Less stiff than a city Ritz-Carlton. The vibe is barefoot-luxe: wave-print wallpaper, wood floors, warm Hawaiian tones. Staff who've worked here for decades keep things grounded and genuinely warm.
Sunsets from the Off The Lip lobby bar and the Oculus fire-pit terrace are genuinely spectacular — west-facing with unobstructed horizon views
Why It Matters
Rebranded in July 2024 after a $250 million renovation. The North Shore location is unique — near Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay — and the sheer scale (1,300 acres, 80+ on-site experiences, horseback riding, a working farm, two golf courses) makes it unlike any other luxury property on Oahu.
The only full-scale luxury resort on Oahu's North Shore, sitting on nearly 1,300 acres with five miles of coastline and seven beaches. It started life in the 1970s as the Kuilima Hyatt, went through a Hilton phase, operated for years as the independent Turtle Bay Resort, and completed a $250 million renovation before being rebranded as a Ritz-Carlton in July 2024. The North Shore setting is genuinely remote — about an hour from Honolulu Airport — but that's the whole point.
