Twin Gables of Woodstock
Art-forward, bohemian boutique B&B. Bold colors, graphic art, eclectic vintage furniture. Every room looks different — and none of them look like a chain hotel.
Room 4 is the most sought-after — king bed, twin daybed, and sweeping Tinker Street views. Book it early.
Why It Matters
Woodstock's oldest continuously operating boutique hotel, originally created for and by artists in 1926. Interior design by Azie Shelhorse, whose work is featured in Architectural Digest. Part of the community-driven {verdigreen} hotels collection. Tablet Hotels listed.
Built in the 1880s and operating as a hotel since 1926, Twin Gables is Woodstock's oldest boutique inn — and one of the more genuinely characterful ones. Revived in 2019 by designer Azie Shelhorse (whose work has appeared in Architectural Digest and Elle Decor) and hotelier Travis Shelhorse, it has 10 rooms across three floors, each with its own bold color palette, hand-selected art, and private en-suite bathroom. Part of the {verdigreen} hotels collection and listed on Tablet Hotels, it sits smack on Tinker Street — Woodstock's main drag — steps from galleries, live music, and good restaurants.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The Comeau Trail begins directly behind the property — easy access to Catskills scenery without driving anywhere. Innkeeper recommends other area hikes including Overlook Mountain, Wittenberg Mountain, and the Ashokan Rail Trail.
Outdoor fire pit on the grounds. The innkeeper lights it up for guests in the evening.
A private Secret Garden with native landscaping and a screened-in gazebo with a rainbow roof — great for morning coffee or afternoon reading.
A curated music library and stereo in the common areas for guests. Common areas play vinyl from the 60s and 70s — multiple guest reviews call this out specifically.
Seasonal rooftop terrace within the tree canopy, with Tivoli string lights and bistro tables. Open to all guests for morning coffee, yoga practice, or evening wind-down. Views of the Catskill mountain canopy.
Complimentary adult yoga class on the rooftop terrace every Sunday at 10am for guests, weather permitting. Suitable for all levels including first-timers.
