Bay
Barefoot-luxury beach resort. Contemporary tropical-Mediterranean architecture, natural materials, clean lines. Relaxed but polished — unhurried pace, warm service, no gimmicks.
Request a Beach Studio on the ground floor if being steps from the sand is the priority — studios like No. 44 sit directly in front of the beach
Why It Matters
One of the first resorts established on Pasikudah Bay and widely considered the standout property on this stretch of coast. Consistently high TripAdvisor ratings across 2,200+ reviews. Part of Uga Escapes — a Sri Lankan luxury collection with properties at Yala, Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, and Colombo. Holds Travelife and Global Sustainable Tourism Council certification.
Uga Bay sits at the centre of Pasikudah Bay on Sri Lanka's east coast — one of the first proper hotels to plant a flag here, and still the best option on the beach. Low-rise, semi-circular, and built with pale stone and terracotta roofs across seven acres of manicured gardens, the whole thing faces the sea. The water here is genuinely remarkable: shallow, warm, and glassy for hundreds of metres out, with no serious current. You can wade waist-deep all the way to the edge of the coral reef.
