Valley River Inn
Modern Pacific Northwest lodge. Mid-century lines meet warm timber and bold earthy patterns — think sleek wood casegoods, felt panel TVs, and rust-and-green color palettes that actually work. Not flashy. Comfortable and grounded.
Spend the extra $20-40 to get a river view room — the pool courtyard is fine but the Willamette sunset is the real reason to be here
Why It Matters
Eugene's sole riverfront hotel, open since 1973, survived a 2023 arson fire and emerged from a multimillion-dollar 2024 renovation with every room rebuilt. Sits directly on the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System. Elvis slept here in 1976 — the Casanova Suite is named in his honor.
Eugene's only riverfront hotel, sitting on the Willamette since 1973. A 2023 arson fire shut it down, but it came back in 2024 fully rebuilt — same structural bones, entirely new interior. The original timber framing and logging-era aesthetic are intact; everything else is fresh, with 259 rooms and suites all featuring private balconies or patios, most aimed at the river.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Well-appointed gym open around the clock. Free weights, weight machines, treadmills, stationary bicycles, and elliptical machines. Towels and yoga mats are provided.
Complimentary shuttle to and from Eugene Airport (EUG) and within a 5-mile radius of the hotel. First night of parking is included for the Park & Fly package; confirm shuttle schedule at check-in.
Guests can borrow bikes from the hotel to explore the riverfront path. Seasonal availability — confirm at check-in. The LTD Autzen Stadium shuttle stop is also walkable from the hotel, useful on Ducks game days.
The Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System runs directly past the hotel's front door — 12 miles of paved paths on both banks, connected by bicycle-friendly footbridges. The hotel offers complimentary loaner bikes seasonally, making it easy to loop through riverside parks or pedal toward downtown.
Large outdoor pool open 10am–10pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Expansive poolside sun deck. Reviewers note it's genuinely big — not a dipping pool.
Sweet Waters hosts regular winemaker tasting events in the riverside restaurant — a chance to meet Willamette Valley producers and sample Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, and others. Schedule varies; check the Sweet Waters events page.
