Verno House
Nostalgic mid-century modern with a contemporary edge. Earthy, warm color palette. Retro telephones. Feels like a well-curated apartment building rather than a corporate hotel. Urban oasis is the explicit concept — green accents, plants, and a philosophy of calm in the middle of the city.
Book a corner suite if you want floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Budapest's Art Nouveau architecture — the views are the best in the house.
Why It Matters
Earned a Michelin Key in October 2025 — among the first hotels in Hungary to receive the distinction. Houses FLAVA, a globally-inspired restaurant also recognized by the Michelin Guide. First Vignette Collection property in Hungary. The building's history as a beloved address for Budapest's creative and intellectual class gives it genuine character, not just aesthetic.
Verno House opened in December 2022 inside a historic tenement building on the corner of Szabadság Street and October 6th Street — a building that once housed artists, politicians, and philanthropists. The hotel's identity is rooted in a 19th-century idea: that you can only truly love a city if you have somewhere green and quiet to retreat to. The design delivers on that promise: think warm rust, saffron, sage, and forest-green throughout, retro telephones in every room, and 48 spacious rooms that feel genuinely oversized by Budapest standards. In August 2024 it joined IHG's Vignette Collection, and in October 2025 received a Michelin Key — one of the first hotels in Hungary to do so.
