Why It Matters
A 2-star hotel that feels nothing like one. Selected by both Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels, it is family-run by Gerardo and his small team. Every room is individually designed with commissioned silk tapestries and signature microcement bathrooms in different colorways. The building itself — a former 15th/16th-century hospital — still has a preserved Mudejar arch in one of the rooms. It books out fast. That tells you everything.
Viento 10 sits behind an unmarked door on a quiet cobbled street in Córdoba's historic Axerquía district, and the contrast between the nondescript exterior and what's inside is genuinely startling. The building dates from the 15th and 16th centuries — originally part of the Mudejar-style Hospital of the Holy Martyrs — and owner Gerardo spent over six years restoring it by hand before opening the hotel. What emerged is a ten-room property arranged around an irregular courtyard ringed with original sandstone columns, where bold contemporary design, microcement bathrooms, and bespoke silk tapestries by artist Rocío Moreno sit alongside brick archways and thick stone walls.

Ground-floor room where a full-wall glass panel holds a reproduction of William Turner's 'Castle' painting — it acts as both boundary and window onto the courtyard of columns. The headboard is a silk tapestry ('Tiger Lines') by artist Rocío Moreno. Entire floor and bathroom finished in gold metallic microcement. There is a described 'surprise for those in love with the old world' — likely the preserved Mudejar arch.
Double First Floor
A bright double room on the first floor. Light pours in through a skylight and through the gallery facing the patio, shifting in intensity and shade throughout the day. Two silk tapestries with oriental themes ('Susani' by Rocío Moreno) frame the headboard. Silver metallic microcement bathroom.
Double Terrace
On the second floor — no lift. The headline feature is a small private terrace directly facing the Church of Santiago. The bathroom is a glass bubble in orange with walls and floors in brown 'Foresta' polished cement. Arguably the most requested room in the hotel.
