Why It Matters
Only four suites, all named after royals who actually stayed here. The restaurant (Gault & Millau 17/20 in 2026) is a destination in its own right, drawing diners from across the region. Rare combination of genuine 120-year history, full gut renovation, and Triglav National Park on your doorstep.
Built in 1902 as a hunting lodge for Viennese merchant Adolf Muhr, this four-suite villa on the eastern shore of Lake Bohinj carries a genuine royal pedigree. King Alexander of Yugoslavia hunted here in the 1920s; in 1934, Prince George, Duke of Kent — uncle of Queen Elizabeth II — got engaged to Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark in these very rooms. The building partially collapsed under snow in 2014, and the owners of sister property Hotel Bohinj rebuilt it almost from scratch, closely following original blueprints and using historically accurate charred-wood window frames. It reopened in January 2025.

Prince George Duke of Kent — Exclusive Suite with Sauna and Bar
Named for Prince George, Duke of Kent, who got engaged here in 1934. Set in the eaves of the upper floor, the suite features larch-lined walls, a dedicated dining area with a bio-fuel fireplace, a private bar with wine and cocktail station, and a glass-enclosed sauna in the bathroom. There is a private terrace with mountain views. It can be connected to the Princess Marina suite for families or groups.

Named for Prince Paul of Yugoslavia, regent and husband of Princess Olga. First-floor suite with a large 30 sq m corner balcony — the biggest outdoor space of any suite in the villa. Features a glass-enclosed private sauna in the bathroom, alongside a separate shower and bidet. Contemporary feel with clean larch finishes and a dedicated wine bar in the living area.

Named for Princess Marina, who got engaged at the villa in 1934. Set in the eaves of the second floor with skylights above the bed and a cozy attic feel. Features a large in-room jacuzzi/spa bath and a separate shower, plus a full kitchenette. The 11 sq m balcony has mountain views. Softer, more enveloping atmosphere than the Prince George suite.

Named for Princess Olga, wife of Prince Paul of Yugoslavia. A first-floor suite with a spacious bedroom and a separate living area that has its own ethanol fireplace. The standout bathroom feature is a freestanding oval bathtub, plus separate shower. Antlers above the headboard and cowhide rugs give it the most traditional lodge atmosphere of the four suites.
