Vita Pannonia
Rural Pannonian nature resort with genuine village character. Think reed-thatched bungalows, a working schnapps distillery in the orchard, and a private lake for swimming. More summer camp than luxury hotel in feel — in a good way. The newer Residences by the Lake bring eco-conscious architecture and a more upscale sensibility to what is otherwise a relaxed, family-friendly resort.
Book a Residence by the Lake if the budget allows — the private bathing jetty and in-suite sauna make it a genuinely different experience from the bungalows.
Why It Matters
One of very few large-scale nature resorts inside Austria's UNESCO World Heritage Burgenland landscape. The sheer scale — 200 hectares, 5+ dining venues, a proper Wellness & Sauna Parc with multiple saunas and a natural swimming pond, 3 outdoor and 2 indoor tennis courts, horseback riding, and 50 km of cycling trails — makes it feel more like a self-contained village than a conventional hotel. Listed on Tablet Hotels and awarded HolidayCheck Gold 2025.
A 200-hectare nature resort sitting inside the UNESCO World Heritage Neusiedler See-Seewinkel national park, about 80 km from Vienna and a 10-minute bike ride from Hungary. Accommodation ranges from compact reed-roofed bungalows to 116 sqm lakeside residences with private saunas and their own bathing jetties. The spa complex, cycling trails, five dining venues, a schnapps distillery, and horse stables mean you could spend a week here without running out of things to do.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Guided nature experience in the hotel's own fruit orchard. Connects to the Brennstüberl schnapps distillery — part agricultural tour, part tasting session.
VILA VITA bicycles are included in all room rates. Marked cycling trails extend through the national park — around 50 km of paths. The Hungarian border is about a 10-minute ride, making a cross-border loop a real option.
On-site private riding stable. One of the more memorable ways to explore the flat Pannonian landscape around the property.
The resort is a starting point for exploration of the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel national park. The Seewinkel is one of Europe's most important birding areas — the stork population is iconic enough that the hotel runs a live Stork Camera.
Three outdoor and two indoor courts. Tennis pros on hand for individual lessons, coaching for children, teenagers, and adults. Coaching fee includes court use and racket/ball rental.
The resort has its own private bathing lake. In summer, this is a major draw — swimming, lounging on the shore, and water sports.
Scuba diving available on-site — relatively unusual for a land-locked nature resort.
On-site kids club and childcare. Children up to age 6 stay complimentary (bed and breakfast) in bungalow accommodations.
On-site mini golf course, popular with families and children.
Burgenland wine tastings in the VITAKELLA wine cellar. The region is famous for Blaufränkisch and Welschriesling.
