Why It Matters
One of the most acclaimed riad-format luxury hotels in Marrakech. Relais & Châteaux member since 2001, one Michelin Key holder. Three pools (including a rare 16-meter lap pool for a medina riad), a subterranean hammam, and a restaurant widely regarded as destination dining by non-guests. The private riad unit with its own heated pool is one of the few truly private pool options inside the medina perimeter.
A 1930s riad turned Relais & Châteaux property, La Villa des Orangers sits just outside the medina walls, a 10-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fna Square and directly at the foot of the Koutoubia Mosque. Push open the heavy carved wooden door on rue Sidi Mimoun and you step into a warren of courtyards, fountain-dotted patios, and lush gardens centered around a 16-meter heated pool. Thirty-three rooms and suites are wrapped around three open-sky patios, with city craft workers spending nine months on the original 2001 renovation to honour traditional Moroccan techniques — ornate plasterwork, carved cedar wood, and hand-laid zellige tiles throughout. It holds one Michelin Key.

The entry-level room at 20 m² — compact but not cramped by riad standards. Ground floor with direct access to the courtyard. Traditional Moroccan styling with dark wood, ornate plasterwork, and an en-suite bathroom with both bathtub and shower plus twin vanity sinks. No terrace, but you step straight out to the fountain courtyard.

Duplex Junior Suite
A split-level layout accommodating up to 3 people. The duplex format gives the suite a distinctly residential feel — bedroom on one level, living space on another. Courtyard-facing orientation with Moroccan or contemporary interiors.

Designed for families of up to 4 people. Specific layout details are limited but the suite is oriented around courtyard and garden views, maintaining the hotel's traditional Moroccan aesthetic while offering additional sleeping space. No elevator access anywhere in the hotel — be aware with young children.

Ranging from 23 to 40 m² depending on the unit, these sit ground floor or first floor and overlook the inner courtyard with its fountain and orange trees. A proper apartment-like experience: living room with fireplace on one floor, large bedroom with its own fireplace above, plus a walk-in closet and a bathroom with skylight, twin vanity sinks, and separate tub and shower. Balcony overlooks the pool and garden. Fits up to 4 guests, with provision for an extra bed.

Riad Privé (Private Riad)
The most immersive option at 185 m² — a fully private riad with two separate suites, its own patio shaded by banana trees, a private heated pool (seasonal), an outdoor living room, open fireplace, terrace solarium, and two complete en-suite bathrooms. Sleeps up to 5 with the option of an extra bed in one bedroom. Can also be booked as individual suites. This is the only unit at the hotel with a completely private pool.

Same footprint as the Deluxe Room at 20 m², but first floor with a private rooftop terrace reached via an interior staircase. Views from the terrace look out over the Atlas Mountains, the Koutoubia Mosque, or the Medina depending on orientation. The 60 m² subterranean hammam uses black soap, horsehair glove, ghassoul clay wrapping, and orange blossom soap. One of the more authentic hammam setups at any riad hotel in Marrakech. Open to non-guests.
