Villa Korta Katarina & Winery
Baroque grandeur meets Adriatic ease. Gilt mirrors, Murano glass chandeliers, carved marble soaking tubs — but open balconies, sea breezes, and a private pebble beach keep it from feeling stuffy. Interior designer Marie Meko gave each of the eight suites its own personality, so no two rooms are alike.
The Wine Cellar (underground, vaulted stone ceilings) seats up to 20 and is the best spot for a private dinner event — ask the concierge to arrange it
Why It Matters
One of very few properties in Croatia that combines a Relais & Châteaux boutique villa with an award-winning on-site winery producing native Croatian varietals (Plavac Mali, Pošip). Holds a 2025 MICHELIN Key. The whole villa can be bought out from €22,000/night — making it equally suited to intimate couples and large private-group takeovers.
A 1930s stone estate perched above the Adriatic in Orebić, Villa Korta Katarina is part grand villa, part boutique hotel, and part working winery — all in one. American philanthropists Lee and Penny Anderson bought the old 'Rivijera' hotel, spent a decade transforming it, and opened in December 2019 with eight individually designed suites, an on-site winery producing seven private-label Croatian wines, and a level of service that earned both Relais & Châteaux membership and a 2025 MICHELIN Key. The whole thing can be rented as one private estate for up to 20 guests.
