Villa La Coste
Contemporary art-forward luxury resort on a working organic vineyard. Minimalist interiors — light oak, marble, natural stone — let the views and art do the talking. Quiet, private, and intentionally low-key despite the extraordinary credentials.
Breakfast is included and can be taken in your suite, at La Galerie, or outdoors — request outdoor delivery for the full vineyard-view experience
Why It Matters
One of only around 30 properties in France to hold the Palace designation, Villa La Coste also carries 3 Michelin Keys. The estate is simultaneously a functioning winery, one of Europe's most significant private contemporary art and architecture parks, and a world-class hotel with a spa and multiple serious restaurants — all on 200 hectares of certified organic land.
Villa La Coste is a 31-suite Palace hotel sitting on top of a hill within the 200-hectare organic wine estate of Château La Coste, about 15 minutes from Aix-en-Provence. Architecturally it is a serious statement: contemporary structures built from local stone and oak stand alongside site-specific works by Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, Oscar Niemeyer, and Renzo Piano. The art collection scattered across the grounds rivals small urban museums, with pieces by Damien Hirst, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, and Richard Serra installed throughout.
