Villa M Marseille
Modern Mediterranean resort-lifestyle hotel. Contemporary architecture, warm interiors, health and wellness focus. More relaxed and residential than a downtown city hotel.
Request an upper-floor Deluxe or Suite room for the sea-and-racecourse view — it genuinely looks like a resort.
Why It Matters
One of Marseille's only sea-view hotels actually close to the Prado beaches (150m). Strong wellness offering anchored by a Deep Nature spa partnership and a boxing/fitness club. Desserts in the restaurant are by Bricoleurs de Douceurs, a respected local pastry house. Large event spaces (1,000m²) make it a major MICE venue. Dogs get a dedicated canine kit — toys, bowls, and a proper mattress.
Villa M sits in Marseille's 8th arrondissement, right on the edge of the Plages du Prado — the beach is a five-minute walk. The hotel has the feel of a resort without actually being one. Views from the upper floors sweep across the Mediterranean and the Borély racecourse, which is more dramatic than it sounds. Originally Villa Massalia (and briefly Golden Tulip), it has been fully renovated and rebranded as an independent lifestyle property with 140 rooms. The wellness angle is real: Deep Nature spa with two treatment rooms, a boxing-focused fitness club with punching bags, outdoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and hammam.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The Prado and L'Escale Borély beaches are a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Sandy, public. No private beach section but the proximity is a real selling point in Marseille.
Not your typical hotel gym. The fitness club has a boxing focus — punching bags, free weights, cardio machines. The approach is described as using boxing as a health prevention tool. Fitness classes available. Open daily.
The team advises on local experiences: Calanques hiking (10-min drive), Village des Goudes, Château d'If / Frioul Islands ferry, Old Port visits, and Stade Vélodrome. The hotel doesn't book excursions directly but will point you in the right direction.
Two on-site gaming rooms with pinball, motorcycle racing simulators, basketball machines, Ludo, and other games. Designed for all ages. Included in the stay at no extra cost — a genuine differentiator for families.
A proper outdoor pool with loungers and umbrellas, open daily 8:30am–8pm. Heated in the off-season. Guests only — no outside access. A few laps in the morning before breakfast is genuinely doable here.
On-site pétanque terrain. Very Marseille. The hotel mentions it as part of the social spaces and lifestyle amenities.
