Eight rooms. That's the whole hotel. Villa Magalean occupies a renovated 1950s neo-Basque villa at the foot of Hondarribia's medieval fortifications, right between San Sebastián (20 min away) and the French border. Architect Iñaki Biurrun restored the bones — carved beam ceilings, wrought iron balconies, Andalusian azulejo tiles, parquet floors — and layered in a focused contemporary palette with Marshall Bluetooth speakers and walk-in showers. It's the kind of place where the staff know your name by day two and the breakfast genuinely deserves its own conversation.
