Villa Rosmarino
Art-forward design hotel meets private Ligurian home. Linen-beige tones, teak floors, original Genoese mosaic tiles on the ground floor, Carrara marble sinks, and a rotating collection of contemporary Italian and international artwork. The formality dial is set firmly to 'off'.
Ask Mario for his personal restaurant list — it's curated and avoids tourist traps. Trattoria Cucù in Camogli and La Cucina di Nonna Nina in San Rocco are reliable picks.
Why It Matters
One of only a handful of properties on the protected Mount Portofino peninsula with a pool. Six rooms means Mario and his team actually know who you are. The art collection is genuinely serious — not lobby prints but photography, paintings, and sculpture by contemporary artists. Repeatedly cited as one of the best small hotels on the Italian Riviera.
A 1907 Genoese palazzo on Mount Portofino, sitting above the fishing village of Camogli with views over the Golfo Paradiso. Owner Mario — a former Milan advertising executive who traded agency life for this — has filled the six rooms with contemporary art, Italian design furniture, and enough thought to make every corner feel intentional. No room numbers on the doors, no lobby, no dinner service. The idea is that you live here, not just sleep here.
