Villa Talamo
Old-money Tuscan family home. Rooms mix antiques, personal family mementos, and exotic travel finds. Interiors designed by architects Piero Castellini Baldissera and Paola Orsi. No twee 'boutique hotel' polish — this place feels genuinely lived-in, which is the whole point.
Peak season (late June to late August) is Saturday-to-Saturday only; outside that window you can book shorter stays with a 3-night minimum at €18,500 for the first 3 nights
Why It Matters
One of the very few historic seafront buildings between Punta Ala and Monte Argentario. Owned by the Zampolli family since it was a private holiday home; the sons opened it first to friends, then to paying guests. Dating to around 1730, it predates the Leopoldine reforms and is among the oldest structures in the area. The direct sea access at the foot of the garden and a 19-meter heated infinity pool overlooking the Tyrrhenian are genuinely rare for this stretch of coast.
Villa Talamo is an 18th-century former monastery turned family home on a private 10-acre coastal estate in southern Tuscany. Sitting above the Bay of Talamone with views stretching to Giglio, Montecristo, and on clear days even Corsica, it rents exclusively as a whole property for up to 20 guests. Ten rooms, a 19m infinity pool, a fully stocked poolside bar, and a live-in team of around 10 staff — including a personal chef who cooks all three meals daily — make it less hotel, more private Tuscan estate that happens to be immaculate.
