Why It Matters
The debut project of BOA Hotels, it is Porto's first high-design 'ilha' conversion — taking the historic Bairro do Silva neighbourhood form (terraced working-class houses grouped around a shared courtyard) and turning it into a boutique self-catering stay. Interior artist Zadok Ben-David's three-metre-high metal-tree installation anchors the main courtyard. Sister properties are planned for Paros, Greece and the Douro Valley (2028).
Village by BOA is what happens when a 19th-century working-class housing complex gets a two-year overhaul by Pablo Pita Architects and Bacana Studio. Five ash-grey buildings around a sun-soaked inner courtyard in Porto's Bolhão quarter, now housing 40 Japandi-styled apartments — fully equipped kitchens, custom-made Portuguese furniture, Meraki toiletries, and yes, a hot-pink popcorn machine. No restaurant, no bar, no spa. But the Market by BOA deli is downstairs, Mercado do Bolhão is a five-minute walk, and Trindade metro station is practically in the courtyard.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A light-filled gym studio accessed using the same unique door code. Open around the clock. Equipped with yoga mats, weight machines (no free weights per guest feedback), and cardio equipment. No instructor on-site but fitness classes can reportedly be arranged.
The hotel's own web app lets guests manage reservations, book local tours, arrange airport transfers, request in-room treatments, and live-chat with the team from the sofa. It also carries staff-curated local restaurant, bar, and market picks.
Through the digital concierge app, guests can book massage and wellness treatments. The nearest treatment provider is reportedly one minute on foot from the property.
The communal courtyard at the heart of the village is a genuine social space — good for morning coffee, evening drinks from Market by BOA, and impromptu chats with other guests. Features award-winning metalworker Zadok Ben-David's three-metre-high metal-tree sculpture.
A 120m2 penthouse event space sitting atop one of the five buildings, with a balcony and panoramic Porto skyline views. Hosts up to 50 for cocktails, 40 for a seated dinner, or 8 for a chef's table experience. Fully equipped kitchen, projector, printer, high-speed WiFi. Available for corporate offsites, product launches, chef table dinners, and private celebrations.
