The building combines a 19th-century posada and an early 20th-century residential block — the original Andalusian courtyard, the facade, and the hallway all survived. Modern design gets layered on top rather than scrubbed away. 102 rooms, a rooftop plunge pool with old-town views, and a restaurant that takes the archaeology seriously as part of the concept. It's a chain hotel, and it knows how to run a hotel, but the bones of the place give it something most five-stars in Spain don't have.

The hotel's own staff can walk guests through the Arabic and Roman city walls preserved in the lobby and restaurant floor, as well as the original Andalusian courtyard and historic hallway that survived from the 19th-century posada. This is an on-site archaeological experience — no need to go anywhere.
