Vintry & Mercer opened in 2019 and immediately became the boutique hotel the City of London had been waiting for. Named after two ancient trading guilds — Vintry for wine merchants, Mercer for textile sellers — the hotel draws its design DNA from this commercial heritage. Think hand-stitched palm wallpaper, bespoke velvet headboards, antique navigation maps on the walls, and leather door handles. It's all very considered, and it works. Ninety-two rooms across seven floors, a rooftop restaurant with St Paul's to The Shard in a single sweep, and a prohibition-era speakeasy bar in the basement. The Square Mile has never had anything quite like this.

Spacious by City-hotel standards at 21.9–24.6 sq m. The intricate needle-and-thread wallpaper nods directly to the mercers who imported fine silks just around the corner. Deep purple velvet headboards, a chaise longue or plump armchair, and both a bath and walk-in shower in the wet room. Nespresso, Marshall speaker, movies-on-demand — all the trimmings.

All the design details of a Deluxe Room but with dramatically better views — either a private balcony or floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the City. This is the sweet spot for anyone who wants city skyline sightlines without paying full suite prices.

Southwark Suite
The largest accommodation in the hotel at 47 sq m, and the best option for families. One king bedroom plus a separate living area with a sofa bed (sleeps three total). Same bold design DNA — ochre velvet curtains, map-inspired wallpaper — with a wet room combining bath and shower, and an in-bathroom speaker. Spacious, calm, and genuinely residential in feel.

The entry point, and more stylish than you'd expect. Soft double beds backed by large ochre-coloured headboards with matching cotton velvet curtains. Abstract city map wallpaper covers one wall. Rooms are compact at 14.6–16.7 sq m, so don't expect to spread out — but the design means they never feel cramped. Walk-in shower rather than a bath. Can be interconnected on request.
Queen · 15.6 sqmStudio Suite
The suites (27–32.1 sq m) come in two flavours: Corner Suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, and Balcony Suites with an external terrace spanning the full width of the room. Both have king beds, upholstered sofas, and a bathtub with a built-in television. The bathroom adds heated floors, a walk-in shower, and in-room speaker. Can be interconnected with Superior rooms on request — handy for families or groups.

A step up in size (17.1–22.8 sq m) and atmosphere. Antique-style maps of old trade routes decorate the walls, teal velvet headboards frame the king bed, and a Nespresso machine and Marshall speaker come standard. Large walk-in shower.
