Chiayi by IHG
Contemporary upscale city tower with low-key luxury branding. Design nods to the Alishan region and local indigenous culture without over-theming. Clean lines, generous natural light, and a social-gathering ethos baked into the voco brand DNA.

Why It Matters
First voco hotel in Taiwan and the tallest building in Chiayi City. The hotel integrates Taiwan's indigenous Tsou and mountain culture into its food and design in a way that feels considered rather than decorative. The 7th-floor leisure center — 20-meter indoor pool, spa pool, full gym, and a proper kids club with trampolines and rock climbing — is genuinely well-equipped for a city hotel.
The tallest building in Chiayi — 27 floors above ground — voco Chiayi is hard to miss and doesn't try to be modest about it. Opened in 2024 as the first voco-branded hotel in Taiwan, it's a joint venture between Fullon Hotels and IHG, and it pulls off the pairing well. Rooms start on the 16th floor, so even the entry-level standard gets floor-to-ceiling city views. It works equally well as a base for Alishan day trips and as a family hotel, with a solid 7th-floor leisure floor that keeps kids busy and adults genuinely relaxed.
