Grand Central Glasgow
Victorian railway grandeur meets modern IHG comfort — upscale and atmospheric without being precious about it. Informal, warm, very Glasgow.
The Station Concourse View rooms have mirrors with built-in TVs and marble/granite bathrooms — worth the upgrade for the novelty alone
Why It Matters
It's the only hotel in Glasgow where you can watch trains pull in from your bar stool. The building has hosted Fred Astaire and Frank Sinatra, and the Wall of Fame is a genuine talking point. Its position directly adjoining Glasgow Central Station makes it almost absurdly convenient for arrivals by rail.
A Glasgow landmark since 1883, the voco Grand Central sits directly inside — and I mean literally connected to — Glasgow Central Station. The building is proper Victorian grandeur: soaring ceilings, glittering chandeliers, rich wood panelling, and a majestic Grand Staircase that's been photographed by everyone from rail buffs to wedding parties. The rooms themselves are contemporary and comfortable rather than period-stuffy, which is a smart call. Champagne Central, the marble-clad bar overlooking the station concourse, is genuinely one of the great people-watching spots in the city — and it won Best Hotel Bar in Glasgow at the 2019 Best Bar None awards.

Weekend brunch in the landmark station-view bar, with Scottish twists on classics — haggis shakshuka, smoked salmon with poached eggs, grand pancakes. Served 10am–2pm, seven days a week.
The concierge team offers insider city tips and can arrange specially negotiated restaurant discounts at local establishments. They can recommend and book open-top bus tours of Glasgow and brewery visits.
Access to Killermont Golf Club, a classic parkland course on the north bank of the River Kelvin, endorsed by the R&A, just five miles from the city centre.
The hotel's self-guided Wall of Fame documents its famous guest list since 1883 — from Frank Sinatra and Fred Astaire to modern-day dignitaries. The Grand Staircase and Victorian architectural details are worth a proper wander.
