Insider Tip

Book a Sky Residence for groups — two and three-bedroom units have their own private rooftop deck and are shockingly spacious for the price in Aspen

Why It Matters

First and only W Hotels property in the North American Alps. One of Aspen's few hotels with year-round rooftop bar, heated pool, and ski-in mountain access. Houses 11 bookable Sky Residences with private rooftop decks. Complimentary BMW X7/X5 use and airport shuttle are genuine differentiators.

Opened in 2019, W Aspen was Aspen's first new luxury hotel in 25 years and remains the only W Hotels Alpine Escape in North America. It sits at the base of Aspen Mountain, roughly 50 yards from the Silver Queen Gondola, which means ski-in access from the slopes is real, not marketing. The design pulls from three distinct Aspen eras: Ute Native American patterns, 19th-century silver mining (hallways are deliberately styled like mine shafts), and the swinging 70s 'Glamor Gulch' era of fur coats and pleasure palaces. Think bold color palettes, a DJ booth shaped like the largest silver nugget ever found in Aspen, and room plates done in the style of Bob Ross.
