The second W hotel ever built, occupying the landmark 1911 Germania Life Insurance Building at the northeast corner of Union Square. After a $100 million renovation by Rockwell Group (the same firm behind the original 2001 design), the property reopened in 2024-2025 with 256 boldly reimagined rooms and a full new food and beverage program. The Beaux-Arts bones are still here — granite facade, mansard roof, original 1911 double-height Living Room — but the interiors are now a confident, layered love letter to New York City itself.

The top of the house. Two bedrooms with ensuite baths, a powder room, and a dual-zone living area divided by a centerpiece minibar.
