Why It Matters
Originally opened in 1931, the Waldorf Astoria is one of the most historically significant hotels in America — birthplace of room service, Eggs Benedict, the Red Velvet Cake, and the Met Gala. Conrad Hilton famously kept a photo of it on his desk labeled 'The Greatest of Them All.' After the longest hotel renovation in recent New York history, it's back.
The Waldorf Astoria New York reopened on July 15, 2025 after an eight-year, roughly $2 billion overhaul — and the scale of what changed is remarkable. What was once a 1,400-room hotel is now 375 rooms and suites, most exceeding 570 square feet, making them among the largest standard rooms in Manhattan. Architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill handled the bones; Pierre-Yves Rochon designed the interiors; and the 1893 World's Fair clock is back in the lobby. Three restaurants, a 22,000-square-foot Guerlain Wellness Spa, and 43,000 square feet of event space — including the legendary Grand Ballroom — round out one of the most consequential hotel reopenings in recent memory.

Deluxe Two Doubles
The family-friendly option. Two sumptuous double beds, sleeps four, with the same marble bathroom package as other guest rooms — soaking tub, rain shower, and luminous marble vanity. Slightly smaller footprint than the Deluxe King but still a solid size for New York.
DoubleJunior Suite
Proper suite proportions with a king bed and a generous living area separated from the sleeping zone. The bathroom goes large: walk-in rain shower, deep soaking tub, marble vanity with single or double sink. Rooms designed to feel like private apartments.

The entry-level room, and still a generous 475 square feet by Manhattan standards. King bed, separate seating area with writing desk, and an oversized marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub and separate shower. Can be connected to adjacent rooms to create a two- or three-bedroom suite configuration.
KingLexington Avenue Junior Suite
Same footprint as the standard Junior Suite with views facing Lexington Avenue and beyond. King bed, refined furnishings, custom finishes, and the full marble bathroom with soaking tub and walk-in rain shower.
KingOne Bedroom Suite
Full one-bedroom suite with a separate living room and dining area. Pierre-Yves Rochon's design draws on original Art Deco motifs — chevron flooring, lacquered walnut, bronze rails — while incorporating floor-to-ceiling triple-pane windows and modern touch-panel controls.
KingPark Avenue Junior Suite
The largest Junior Suite in the collection. Prime Park Avenue views, king bed, living area with writing desk, and the full marble bathroom treatment. If you're going to splurge on a Junior Suite, this is the one — the Park Avenue outlook is the Waldorf's signature perspective.
