Insider Tip
1/5

Book a Main House room for the best character — original fireplaces, four-poster options, and that sense of sleeping inside a genuine manor.

Why It Matters

Michelin Selected Hotel 2025. Grade II* listed building on the English Heritage Register. Genuinely historic property — built as the Bailiff of Osney Abbey in the late 15th century — that has operated as a hotel since 1946. The ancestral home of the Earls of Abingdon and Berkshire.

A Grade II* listed manor house dating to the late 15th century, set on 12 acres of Oxfordshire countryside between Oxford and the Cotswolds. Every room is different — think original stone fireplaces, sash windows, oak panelling and copper baths alongside proper beds and modern bathrooms. The Barons Hall has linen-fold wood panelling from the 1680s and the drawing room that now houses the Lavender Restaurant has been here since the reign of William and Mary.
