Why It Matters
Only four rooms in a restored 1890s whiskey factory, each individually designed with industrial artifacts left deliberately in place. Rooms sit directly above one of Philly's most celebrated wood-fired Italian restaurants. No lobby, no concierge — check-in happens via envelope from the restaurant hostess. A 19th-century whiskey blending and bottling factory in Philadelphia's Fishtown that became one of the most talked-about wood-fired Italian restaurants in the city — and then added four seriously considered hotel rooms upstairs. Just four rooms, total. The building was constructed in 1890, and the bones show: exposed brick, original industrial artifacts, an elevator shaft turned skylight, a former safe now housing a clawfoot tub. Every room sits above one of Philly's best restaurants, which makes the dining situation almost unfairly convenient.

Third-floor room at 550 sq ft with the most dramatic bathroom in the building: a clawfoot soaking tub set inside the original building safe, with windows overlooking the elevated Market-Frankford train tracks. A-frame skylight overhead, hardwood floors, exposed brick, soapstone countertops in the full kitchen, and custom wallpaper. Also has a McIntosh loudspeaker system and cocktail kit.

The largest room in the building at 810 sq ft, set on the 2nd floor. Its standout artifact is an original Fairbanks No. 5 Platform Scale — a genuine piece of the factory's past left right in the room. Polished concrete floors, exposed brick walls, custom-made audio console, and walnut frameless kitchen cabinets with poured concrete countertops. The full kitchen comes with Mauviel cookware and a Bonavita coffee maker. Bathroom has a rainfall shower.

810 sq ft on the 3rd floor with views of Fishtown from above. The building's original elevator shaft has been converted into a skylight — a dramatic architectural feature that floods the room with natural light. Hardwood floors, custom-designed wallpaper, exposed brick, and a leather-wrapped credenza. Full kitchen with walnut cabinets and poured concrete countertops, plus a McIntosh loudspeaker system and cocktail kit.

At 588 sq ft on the 2nd floor, this is the only room with a queen bed. The design leans hard into the whiskey factory history: glazed tile work inspired by actual whiskey bottles found under the floorboards during restoration. Custom wallpaper, polished concrete floors, exposed brick. Full kitchen with walnut cabinets and poured concrete countertops. McIntosh loudspeaker system is a highlight. Rainfall shower in the en-suite.
