Wythe Hotel
Industrial chic, deliberately low-key. Think reclaimed timber beds, custom Brooklyn artwork on the walls, a locally sourced minibar, and a 50-foot 'HOTEL' sign on the roof that you can spot from the L train. Not trying to be a luxury hotel — trying to be the best version of itself.
Ask for a room on floors 5-8 facing west for Manhattan skyline views — the difference in the view versus a Brooklyn-facing room is significant.
Why It Matters
One of the first and most influential boutique hotels to put Williamsburg on the map. The building itself — originally designed by prolific Brooklyn architect Theobald Engelhardt, later a textile factory producing specialty fabrics for NASA — is genuinely irreplaceable. Le Crocodile earned three stars from The New York Times. Bar Blondeau on the 6th floor serves cocktails against an unobstructed Manhattan skyline.
A 1901 cooperage turned 69-room boutique hotel that opened in 2012, the Wythe is Williamsburg's original cool address. Heavy Southern Yellow Pine timbers, polished concrete floors with radiant heat, and floor-to-ceiling factory windows are all original to the building. It earned a Michelin Key in 2024 — one of only three Brooklyn hotels to do so.
