XV Beacon
Dark, romantic boutique luxury with a residential feel — Parisian in sensibility, New England in address. Historic bones, modern appointments.
Ask for a room facing Beacon Street or the Common for the best views — studios on the 6th floor are sweet spots
Why It Matters
Boston's original luxury boutique hotel, operating since 1999 in a landmark 1903 Beaux Arts building. Member of Preferred Hotels Legend Collection and Historic Hotels of America. Known for exceptional personal service, with no more than seven rooms per floor and a Les Clefs d'Or concierge. The building itself is on the Freedom Trail.
The name is the street address: 15 Beacon Street, in a 1903 Beaux Arts building at the top of Beacon Hill, one block from Boston Common. Boston's original luxury boutique hotel, XV Beacon spreads just 61 rooms across seven per floor — intimate enough to feel like your own city residence. Dark mahogany paneling, an original caged-glass elevator, and art commissioned specifically for the building give it a particular mood: romantic, slightly moody, nothing like the polished anonymity of Boston's bigger luxury players. Rooms run a taupe, cream, and espresso palette with gas fireplaces in every single one, Italian marble bathrooms, Frette linens, and cashmere throws. No pool, no spa — but the service here is genuinely exceptional and the location is hard to beat.

How you'll actually spend your days.
On the 11th floor, a well-equipped fitness room with a Woodway treadmill, Peloton bike, Hydrow rowing machine, and functional trainer. Available around the clock. Private trainers can be arranged through the concierge.
The building houses an extensive art collection including a fourth-century Roman mosaic, works by 18th-century portraitist Gilbert Stuart, and a Jules Olitski — all displayed throughout the public spaces and floors. Designed by noted Boston architect Willard Gibbons Preston and built in 1903.
Complimentary drop-off service within the downtown Boston area in a house Lexus. Not a full chauffeur service, but genuinely useful for getting to meetings or dinner without calling an Uber. Arrange through the concierge.
The concierge team can arrange private tours of historic Boston sites. The hotel sits steps from the Freedom Trail and Beacon Hill's gas-lit streets. Walking and jogging maps for Boston Common and Charles River paths available at the front desk.
Mooo.... offers a private dining room set within the building's original vaulted wine cellar — one of the more atmospheric private event spaces in Boston, housing one of the most extensive wine collections in the country. Ideal for intimate dinners or corporate events.
Seasonal rooftop deck open June through October with views across Beacon Hill and toward the Charles River. Guests can bring food and beverages up from the hotel. Not a bar or staffed venue — more like a private urban terrace for hotel guests.
