Why It Matters
The debut property of the Zel brand, co-created by Rafael Nadal and Meliá. Nadal personally curated the outdoor activity programme (Active MED by Rafa Nadal), and the hotel anchors the growing Zel brand, which has since expanded to Costa Brava and beyond. The indoor-outdoor patio lobby and concept store are genuinely distinctive — no traditional reception anywhere.
Zel Mallorca is Rafael Nadal's first hotel, a collaboration with Meliá Hotels International that opened in July 2023 on Palmanova beach. The open-plan lobby ditches the front desk entirely in favour of a Mediterranean courtyard, concept store, and specialty coffee corner — and it genuinely feels more like walking into someone's very stylish home than checking into a hotel. All 165 rooms lean into pale woods, linen, wicker lampshades, and big sea views.
