Why It Matters
Osaka's first Design Hotels member and the only one in the city. The UPSTAIRZ dining concept — a lounge, bar, and restaurant rolled into one 250-sqm space — made Michelin's recommended list. The hotel was designed specifically to attract independent travelers and creative professionals, not tour groups.
Zentis Osaka is the debut property of Palace Hotel Group's Zentis label — a 16-story, 212-room boutique that brought genuinely design-forward hospitality to Osaka's Kita Ward when it opened in June 2020. Interiors by UK firm Tara Bernerd & Partners lean into industrial-chic: exposed brick, timber beams, polished wood floors, and a dramatic blue limestone staircase that doubles as the hotel's most Instagrammed feature. Local craft is woven throughout — shigaraki-yaki bedside tables fired in Shiga's kilns, shodo-inspired wallpaper installations, and commissioned pieces by Osaka artists keep things grounded in place.

Corner Studio
The upgrade that most couples go for. Corner position means windows on two sides and more natural light than the standard Studio. At 32 sqm you actually feel the extra space — there's a chaise lounge by the window that earns its place. The deep soaking tub is the key difference from the Studio. Can be connected to an adjoining Studio room via a secured exterior door to create a two-bedroom unit.

The entry-level room and the most popular with solo travelers. At 25 sqm it's compact but smartly laid out — inspired by the modular logic of Japanese bento boxes. Rain shower only (no soaking tub), but the Imabari bath linens and locally commissioned artwork on the wall make it feel more considered than the footprint suggests. The 49-inch 4K TV with Apple TV 4K is a nice touch for evenings in.

Suite
Situated on the topmost floor of the 16-story building. At 57 sqm there's genuine room to move: separate bedroom and living areas, a dining table for two, and both a rain shower and separate soaking tub. The twin beds convert to an oversize king. Two 49-inch 4K TVs (one per room). Like all the rooms, kitted out with bespoke Tara Bernerd & Partners furniture and locally commissioned artwork. Can be connected to an adjoining Studio for a two-bedroom configuration.
