Zero George
Historic preservation meets understated luxury. Think Charleston single houses with original architectural bones — high ceilings, piazzas, hand-laid marble showers — dressed up with contemporary art and Italian Frette linens. Intimate and residential, not grand-hotel formal.
Book The Restaurant well in advance — it's a tiny kitchen with limited seats and fills up fast, especially on weekends.
Why It Matters
The Restaurant at Zero George was selected in the 2025 inaugural MICHELIN Guide American South. The hotel has appeared on the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List multiple times (2018 and 2025) and was named among Condé Nast's Top 5 Foodie Hotels in the World. The Caviar Bar, an 8-seat piazza bar serving Regiis Ova caviar, was called 'The Coolest Reservation in Town' by Forbes. There is genuinely nothing else in Charleston quite like it.
Five beautifully restored 1804 buildings — three residences and two brick carriage houses — connected by a palmetto-shaded courtyard at the corner of George Street and East Bay. The address (literally 0 George Street) sounds like a navigation glitch, but it's completely real: an 18-room boutique in Charleston's Ansonborough neighborhood built on land once owned by American patriot Christopher Gadsden. Owners Dean Andrews and Lynn Easton of Easton Porter Group spent years on meticulous preservation, and it shows in every heart pine floor and period millwork detail.
