Why It Matters
Born from the transformation of the legendary Astoria Cinema, the hotel pays tribute to the San Sebastián Film Festival — which has run since 1953. Every single room is dedicated to a specific actor, director, or film industry figure who has attended the festival. Woody Allen, Glenn Close, and Quentin Tarantino are among the names honored.
Zinema7 is a 4-star cinema-themed hotel built inside the bones of the old Astoria Cinema, one of Donostia's most iconic multiplexes. Every room pays tribute to a film star or director who has walked the red carpet at the San Sebastián International Film Festival (Zinemaldia). The concept isn't just decor: there's a library stocked with over 3,000 DVDs to borrow, hallways lined with curated film photography, and a Bistroteka restaurant that's genuinely open to the neighborhood. It sits in the Amara district, which is residential and quieter than the Old Quarter — La Concha beach is about a 20-minute walk or a quick bus from right outside.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Guests can browse the hotel's library of over 3,000 DVDs and cinema books, then borrow them to watch or read in their room. Ask at reception. The library lounge itself is a social space with armchairs and shelves organized by director, genre, and film.
The hotel offers fitness classes in addition to the standard gym equipment on the top floor.
The hotel is the de facto base for Zinemaldia, which runs every September since 1953. The festival connection is woven into the hotel's entire identity — rooms are named after past festival guests. Being here during the festival means red carpets, screenings, and film industry energy across the entire city.
