Puerto Rico
Rainforest Rush, Surf, and San Juan Nights
Surf mornings, rainforest adventures, and unforgettable San Juan nights
Planning a trip to Puerto Rico?
Days 3–4 combine Puerto Rico’s lush northeastern nature with easy adventure and San Juan’s best nightlife. The plan favors comfortable, well-reviewed experiences, short geographic hops, quality meals, and flexible weather backups.
Highlights
Hike through tropical forest, viewpoints, waterfalls, and wildlife-rich mountain scenery.
Add a guided rainforest or foothill zipline experience with professional equipment and instruction.
Take a beginner-friendly coached surf lesson on a convenient San Juan beach.
Move from historic streets to cocktail bars, salsa, and late-night music without crossing the city.
Look for shorebirds, pelicans, iguanas, and reef life along northeastern Puerto Rico’s coast.
Good to Know
Build in Rainforest Buffers
El Yunque weather can shift quickly, and roads or trails may temporarily close. Keep at least 30 minutes between forest stops, bring dry clothes, and verify same-day access conditions before departing.
Respect Surf Conditions
Surf beaches can become powerful even when the shore looks calm. Follow the instructor’s beach recommendation, do not surf alone, and move the lesson rather than forcing it during unsafe swell or lightning.
Plan Night Transport
Walk between venues within Old San Juan, but arrange the return to Condado or Ocean Park before drinking. Keep phone batteries charged, carry a small amount of cash, and use well-lit main streets.
