Can Alberti 1740 Hotel Boutique
Aristocratic-residential. Feels more like staying in a well-appointed private home than a hotel. Art gallery aesthetics throughout — rotating exhibitions on the walls, cultural events during the season. Refined but not stuffy.
Book dinner reservations before you arrive — the staff will do it for you but availability is tight in season
Why It Matters
Two-time Michelin Key recipient (2024 and 2026). The hotel functions as a living gallery in partnership with Spanish and European galleries, hosting rotating exhibitions and chamber music concerts throughout the season. It's also a certified plastic-free property and committed to sustainability.
Can Alberti is a 14-room luxury boutique hotel occupying a grand 18th-century manor house right in the historic centre of Mahón — Menorca's understated capital. The Alberti family built it in 1740 during the British period, and the bones of the place are still intact: original floors, imposing wooden beams, thick stone walls, and a shaded inner courtyard where breakfast is served each morning. It's a calm, residential kind of place, owned and managed by a French couple who have layered in contemporary art exhibitions, wellness treatments in a vaulted stone room, and a rooftop terrace with views over the port. No pool, no resort noise — just quality and quiet in a genuinely beautiful old building.

Guided prehistoric Menorca experiences visiting Talayot sites and Bronze Age monuments. The hotel connects guests with specialist guides passionate about the island's 5,000-year-old history.
The team puts together personalised itineraries for guests wanting to explore the contemporary art scene across Mahón, Alaior, and Ciutadella. Routes include internationally acclaimed spaces such as Hauser & Wirth alongside local independent galleries and artists' studios — painting, sculpture, ceramics, silverwork, and basketry.
The hotel operates as a living gallery throughout the season, hosting curated exhibitions in partnership with Spanish and European galleries. In 2026, the programme includes a summer exhibition with Barcelona's Galería Rocío Santacruz (June–July), a historic photography showcase from Foto Sturla Studio in September, and chamber music concerts via the Reynolds Foundation. Open to guests and local visitors.
One of the oldest opera houses in Spain, built in 1829 in the classic Italian horseshoe model just steps from the hotel. The concierge books tickets for performances, especially opera season.
Bikes available for exploring Mahón and surrounding areas. The concierge can arrange rentals and recommend routes.
186km of historic coastal paths dating to the 14th century, divided into 20 stages of varying difficulty. The hotel advises on routes and can arrange bicycle rentals or transport to trailheads.
Menorca's coastline is best seen from the water — the hotel can arrange boat trips to access wild coves and discover the sculpted northern coastline that's inaccessible by road.
