Los Angeles
Contemporary architectural luxury with an arts district edge. Think polished but not stuffy: antique brass wardrobe details, Byredo Mojave Ghost bath products, and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking downtown. The crowd skews cultured and design-forward.
Hotel entrance is on 1st Street between Grand Ave and Olive — not the Grand Ave side. GPS will confuse you.
Why It Matters
Gehry's first California hotel project, situated inside The Grand LA development directly opposite the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The only Conrad in California. José Andrés oversees the entire food and beverage program. The 16,000-square-foot rooftop terrace is the largest rooftop oasis in Downtown Los Angeles.
Frank Gehry designed this sculptural 28-floor tower as his first hotel project in California, and it sits directly across from his other downtown masterpiece, the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Opened in 2022 as part of The Grand LA mixed-use development, the 305-room Conrad is interior-designed by Tara Bernerd & Partners and runs a full dining program by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. The 10th-floor lobby alone — with its sweeping Concert Hall views and bar — is worth stopping in for.
