Why It Matters

One of LA's most historically significant hotels — it hosted the 10th Grammy Awards, the 19th Emmy Awards, and Nixon's Apollo 11 State Dinner. After a $2.5 billion overhaul, it reopened as the city's newest luxury landmark and the first Fairmont Gold property on the US West Coast. Part of Historic Hotels of America and located within a $2.5B mixed-use Century City development alongside 44-story residential towers and 94,000 sq ft of boutique retail.

Fairmont Century Plaza opened in 1966 as famed architect Minoru Yamasaki's vision of "The Hotel of the Future," and it hosted everyone from US presidents to Grammy Award ceremonies in its original heyday. It closed for a massive $2.5 billion renovation and reopened on September 27, 2021, completely reimagined by interior design firm Yabu Pushelberg. The building's iconic curved mid-century modern facade is intact, but inside it's a different story — 400 spacious rooms (down from the original 726) all with private balconies, a 14,000 sq ft spa, a French brasserie, and a rooftop heated infinity pool with views stretching to the Pacific.
